United States Travel
From New York City in 1888

 

This table is taken from An Encyclopedia of Practical Information and Useful Formulary  by Robert Bradbury, MD.  Probably published in 1888 or 1889 by Century Book of Chicago, IL.

There is a note with the table in the book, "As the fares by railway are constantly varying, and time-tables vary widely by different trains, the mail time and passenger fares are to be taken as approximately correct".

Another note, I thought time zones were standardized before 1888, but evidently times were still incremental across the time zones. Since the author does not mention it, everyone in 1888 must have known.
